thinkin about replacing my red int. with doeskin. ok couple of questions. first can i do it myself how hard is it to do?? or should i buy all the parts and have it done??? and does anyone know a good shop in bklyn or staten island ny. the other question is whos got the best interiors eklers, mid america, vip ???
From: the land of a never ending frame-off resto-mod. May Visa have mercy on my soul.
I purchased a complete leather interior from Wilcox inc. off of E-Bay. So far so good. Getting ready to install in just a few weeks. Fast shipping and products look good. I do recomend that you get the seat covers already pre mounted on the foam, this will save you some Tylenol. Good Luck.
Check out Al Knoch interiors also. DB

Do it yourself. There's satisfaction in a job well done, and you'll know it was done right. I am not sure about which vendors have the best quality. I've bought from all of those vendors with good results. There's also an Ebay vendor (whose name escapes me!) who has very competitive prices. If you have some trim pieces that are in good shape other than the color, consider vinyl / interior paints. If the surface is properly prepped, you will see outstanding results. I completely re-did my Vette interior a year ago, and just completed my kids 78 TA about six weeks ago. Makes a huge difference in the car!
A few things..Agree..DO it yourself. I took out the seats and all the carpet in my 79 last night in about 2 hours..Easy to do...
Check out the website below. You can get a very good price on your items from Wally Knoch.....Wally is Al's brother...My carpeting, which I purchased from them looks good. I know he sells interior pieces as well and u may save a buck or two..
Let me know if u have any questions. Do a search on the forum..their has to be much info. on doing this job!! My interior is Oyster white.....
I redid mine last winter, used Willcox and everything was great, including the prices I went from dark blue to charcoal. I got the covers mounted on new foam. I was worried about doing the job myself but it was alot easier than I thought it be.
Check out my corvette pictures at left.
Did a complete interior restoration with the exception of the seats (they didn't need it). It fairly easy to do and you'll save a lot of money doing it yourself, not to mention the satisfaction that comes from doing a job with your own two hands.
I'm with the "do it yourself" crowd.
Just a few thoughts:
Light intrior dye over dark colors on high wear areas (door panel arm rest, center console) will eventualy scratch/wear through.
Most challenging job would be new seat cover install. This service is available everywhere if you decide not to DIYS.
Get new foam reguardless of who does it.
Good luck
Eddie
What's a complete interior replacement going for nowadays? I can imagine it's not cheap. I've been toying with the idea of eventually changing my interior color but I've been afraid to look at how much it'll cost...
Carpet will run $300.00..for a full back and front......
Seats..depends on if you get someone to put them on new foam. If so, and u have leather, then expect to pay $750.00
door panels are about $350+ per panel...
Granted , these prices may be a bit off, but generally they are in the ballpark.....

i priced everthing from eklers as a replacement the only thing i'm painting is the steering column and seat frames. seats are coming mounted on new foam... heard that is definatly the way to go $2800...
i did alot of research, and even tried the NEW yr. one online catoloug ( it sucks ) and found eklers to have the most parts, and color choices for those parts. and the web site was right on. other vendors had one part in the color i wanted, but not the other. the rep says," sorry its all we have available right now." ecklers had it all. spent 2500, for entire interior, except for the trim pieces which i will dye. im using sport seats from summit. for 209.99 each they are fantastic seats.
