if it was me w/ those choices ill pick the vert it will always worth more than the non matcing numbers bb coupe also i drove a bb coupe and it was fater but thats it(this one had no a/c)and it was a hot day and i was cooking inside (bb thows a lot of heat)and from what i heard from people that have one in my club is not as reliable as the sb. and about the tt are almost like convertibles i have to desagree nothing beats a vert looks and coolnes also resale value (you never know)you will get more for the vert just my .02
I love Verts! That's what I'd choose. But remember that there are more than two corvetts for sale. You don't need to choose. Just get a convertible BB. That's what I did.
In the case of the two cars you are looking at. If the BB is built to stock specs it isn't all that fast by todays standards. You will likely need to rebuild either car if you want something powerful.
If you ever end up selling the car I think a matching numbers Vert will easier to sell than a non matching BB T-Top.
If I had to choose between those cars, I'd go with the vert because that's what I like. Then I'd either drop an enexpensive 383ci 450hp stroker, or an expensive, built 500hp LS1.
Actually I'm supposed to see the Convetible tomorrow for a test.. Hopefully it doesn't snow.
Some friends have been telling me to go for a test as they said the same thing. Yank the 327 and have a nice 383 Stoker and say GoodBye to that BB in style.
Now I'm torn. But they also said "Don't fool yourself" Matching numbers will always bring more value, and it's a Convertible to boot.
I've owned both and there's nothing like a ragtop at dusk, top down and classic rock pounding. No matter what you get, there will always be something faster. But Very few cars are cooler then a Ragtop Vette
I found that when I had the BB the motorheads paid attention, where the ragtop gets everyone's attention, especially the ladies
