This all started because the left speaker of my father's 75 coupe didn't work, and I told him I would take a look at it for him. Well, one thing led to another and before long I had most of the dash out so that I could replace the speakers as one of the originals was blown.
Of course as things go, one thing led to another, and then I thought, hey I should see if I can get that clock working again. Then I thought well since I am at maybe now would be a good time to replace the factory radio with some modern tunes. I went with an Aiwa CD player with the front auxillary that will allow the direct hookup of an MP3 player or ipod, and a pair of Polk/Momo 4 x 6 plate speakers under the dash.
The stock radio/gauge bezel had to be cut to allow the rectangular modern stereo, and I purchased an adapter plate through millionbuy.com to give it that "from the factory" look. Lastly, I resprayed the bezel with some Krylon semi flat paint. The install went well and the new stereo sounds great. Attached are some during and after photos.
