1976 L82 Engine
hi, i was just curious if anyone has a picture of the original L82... im not sure that mine is the original engine and im looking for a way to find out... any suggestions?

Check the pad on the front of the engine on the passenger side just in front of the head against the VIN. Someone showed me that on mine, and sure enough, I have the original L82 in my 79.

With the hood open, lean over the passenger side fender and look at the front edge of the block (behind water pump). There's a flat pad there with numbers and letters stamped on it. If the series of numbers matches the last several digits of your VIN (located on the inside of the driver side windshield post), you have a match. A match likely means it's original but could mean someone re-stamped the block.

It is stamped into the block just in front of the right hand head, below the gasket mating surface.
