Default Help with front differential rubber mount?

Is there a way to change the front differential rubber mount without removing the drive shaft. The nut and bolt turn when I’m trying to remove it but I can’t get anything in to hold the bolt head.

I just did this on my 63. You can get a 5/8 box wrench on the bolt head. Chuck

You can get the entire bracket out without removing or lowering the pumpkin:

80-82 are crappy aluminum design with a cast in bracket- you can't remove it like the earlier iron diffs had. I think you're going to have to get it up on a lift so you can work around it- might be hard on jackstands.

Here's one so you can see:

Not possible without pulling the driveshaft, then again pulling the shaft is not that big a deal, easily done.

Hey now gary, I have one of those crappy alu deals also ..let's forget strength..it sure looks a hell of a lot better than the dead weight on the earlier cars ..that has to count for something? ...right? I think mine looks pretty (franticly trying to convince myself this thing is not a total dud..untill I acquire that elusive C4 D44...which I still don't have the batwing for)

I need to replace the front differential mount bushings on my '82 also. The car clunks when I shift into drive and sometimes in reverse.

Where do you put the jackstands? Under the control arms? Do you have to lift both sides of the car on jackstands? Do you need to support the differential with a jack when removing the carrier bolt? Thanks in advance.
