I finally re-installed the radio and tape player in my Corvette and as soon as I insert a tape it ejects after 1 or 2 seconds and a loop of the tape is sticking out of the cassette.
What is causing this and can I fix it in the car without removing the entire radio/tape unit?
Thank you in advance for any input.
Kurt
It means the "capstan" (metal pointy thingy that controls tape speed) is revolving, but the main sprockets are not. You could try using an old cassette with NO TAPE in it, stick it in and cycle the ff/rewind and/or the forward/reverse and maybe the sprocket motors will start going. If not you have to take out and replace/repair.
Star79,
Thank you very much for the tip.
I did as you said and after several attempts it works fine now. Really appreciate the help.
I would be lost without this forum and the people on it who know WAY MORE than I do.
Thanks again,
Kurt
