I'm picking up my '81 today with a trailer. I have a set of 10K straps and axle straps. What are the best places to secure the car below the suspension? Pics, if you have them, would be great.
I towed mine about a month ago (very gently and carefully) for about 50 miles. Here's what I did - it may or may not be applicable to your situation. On the rear, I attached my tow straps to the rear half shafts directly. I was able to run the strap over the top of each half shaft, then back on itself into a clip. These were stretched tightly and attached to the trailer at points outward and lower than the car (at about 45 degree angle from each corner). In the front, I wrapped the cable around the lower A-arms and attached the straps in a similar outward and downward angle as the rears. I should mention that I have the VBP tubular A-arms so this may have been easier for me to do than with a stock Vette. You probably could use the front sway bar as an attachment point.
In addition to strapping it down, the front wheels were chocked on the trailer and the car was in reverse. My parking brake is disconnected and wouldn't have helped anyway...
I trailer my C-3 a lot as it is a non streetable Auto crosser. I use straps around the lower A arms to tie downs in front. On the rear I clip my tie downs to the two holes in the cross member, but I have removed the spare tire cover. I used to use straps around the half shafts and criss crossed the tie downs with no problems.

Thanks for the suggestions. The tie down and tow went without a hitch. I used the axle straps wrapped around the half shafts and lower A-arms. (The hooks wouldn't fit in the frame openings in back.) I improved the approach angle with a 6' 2x10 with a 4' 2x10 stacked in front of each ramp.
A word of advice. Make sure you check the ramps before you leave. The last renter put the ramps in the stake holes on the wrong sides and they were both jammed. Thankfully I brought my 7K jack and plenty of boards to jack those suckers out.
