'78 Corvette - Sitting Outside for Years
An aquaintance that lives about 2 miles from my new home in Ohio has a black '78 Corvette. Not sure if it has 4 speed or whether it is L48 or L82.
When I first sat down at the local watering hole and started talking to him about his '78, I mentioned that I saw he had it parked outside. His response was something like "... it always sits outside and I never drive it". Now, this guy gives me the impression of the sort that really doesn't care whether it is a Corvette or a rusted out beater; he treats them the same (poorly).
If anybody is in the neighborhood of zip 45843 (Hardin County, Northwest Ohio) and may be interested in taking that vette off of his hands, I can check with him. My guess is that the brakes are probably seized by now and with Ohio winters, the entire drivetrain and frame may be at risk also (unless the frame has Zeibart protection). I've not looked at it up close but I wouldn't consider it a driver (he doesn't even cover it).
He offered to sell it to me but I never got to discussing price after he mentioned it never moves and he couldn't remember when he last drove it.
I hate to see a car neglected.

My '79 sits outside everyday, but I also drive it everyday, wash it wax it and such. Rust preventitive paint going on next week. Don't know how someone could neglect such a nice car though, they beg to be driven...the vette whispers it to me as I go by I swear..."Driiiive meee, drive meeeee haaaard"
