Default Identify my motor

Still trying to figure out what I have. Motor claimed to be an "almost new crate motor" when I bought the car. Clean, shiny black block, iron heads with center bolt valve covers. Can't find any company stickers on motor. Cast numbers I can find are on the rear area of the block just in front of the bellhousing; On the left there is - GM 5.7L C
SMCO
on an angle under this is - a dot, then E242, then 2 dots
Above all of this near the centerline is a symbol of 12 dots around a circle
On the right is a number - 0243880 with some sort of symbol at each end.

can't find any numbers on heads so far. Where should I look? the only thing I noticed about the heads is that the plugs go straight in, not on an angle like on the L98 in my '88

10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal

Not sure if this is what you have, if the symbol in front of it is a 1 that's what I'd guess though Search on Mortec if it's not a 1 in front of it

Pull the valve covers off to see the head casting numbers. With centerbolt valve covers, the heads are most likely a Vortec unit as stated above. Not a bad little thumper. They can put down some nice power if you machine the heads to accept bigger valve springs (Stockers are limited to .475") and run more lift on the cam.

Thanks for the help. It got me pointed in the right direction. I will try to get a closer look at the first digit. It does look like a 1 that got a little sloppy during casting. Any other info will be appreciated.

Default Motor I.D.

I tried the link to Mortec and I still can't determine what my motor was designed for. Can anyone help? I know all these numbers look a little strange to me also. T4A505610 followed by V127OTMM. I'm quite confused. By the way I do know that it is a small block, the data plate says that the car, a '69 vert, was built with a 350/350 And I was told by the previous owner that it now has a 327. I got all the numbers off of the pad on the r/f. of the block where it meets the head.
