Default Offset T-Arms and Wheel Width

Hello all,

I am curious. I have a 79 vette that I am rebuilding and am close to purchasing a set of wheels. I would love to go with a 325/335/345 width tire on the rear. I plan on getting Offset T-Arms and realize that I would need to flare to fit the tires. However, I don't want to do a 3+ inch rear flare.

My question is, what is the widest wheel/tire you can fit on a 79 with offset T-arms and only require like a 2 inch flare? What would the wheel offset need to be?

I appreciate your help as always!

Dave

Groovy Jay runs 20x10 in the rear with 285 series tires. Would it be safe to assume that if I ran 20 x 12 inch wide rears with 335s it would only require a 2 inch flare? Then, would it be ok to run 20 x 10 with 285s on the front, similar to Groovy Jays rear wheel setup?

Groovy Jay, what is the backspacing on your wheels? You mention that it was custom on your website.

Thanks all.

Thanks guys! Your two vettes are amongst my favorites!

Groovy Jay, do you ever wish you went with wider back wheels/tires?

I would have had to get some flares installed for wider wheels, so I'm very happy how it is now. I however would like to do a race car style 69 one day with full 14" wide rears, I hear they are makin 375/20/18 tires nowdays, I would basically have to build the whole car around those wheels and tires

Sorry to keep harrassing you. But you mentioned at one point that you were going with a big brake kit. Are there any clearance issues with that backspacing on the kit? I have ordered a Wilwood big brake kit (14inch rotors front and back, 6 piston front). Just curious

Thanks!
