Default 350 hp identification

Does anyone know if there is another way to determine hp on a 69 350? My suffix is hy,300 hp manual transmission. It has a 4 speed close ratio. The resto book that I have explains that 300 hp motors all had painted valve covers.Mine are 7 finned aluminum which according to the book are for 350 hps.I know they may be add ons but the car seems to have 350 hp power.

If the stamp pad says HY and the VIN derivative stamp matches the VIN of the car, I'd say that it's likely to have been a 300hp car originally. What is the redline of the tach? What about the number on the q-jet carb?

The valve covers are easily changed, as is the data plate on the center console, but the tach redline is a dead giveaway and most folks don't usually change it out.
