They are bolted to the bumper with three real cheesy nuts. Some times you have to remove a bracket to reach the center nut. If the studs are stripped, have a friend pull on the emblem while you turn the nuts.

I had my emblem fall off (someone appeared to have crazy glued it on or something bubba-licious) and I am getting ready to put the replacement emblem back on.
Fair assessment that you'll probably have to drop the spare tire carrier as well (both parts)?

Thanks for the info. I hope I don't have to drop the spare tire carrier. Right now, I don't have a spare tire takeing up the room.
