I haven't found any tech help on this written down yet myself. Planning to take the doors apart his weekend getting ready for paint. Drop me an email and we can share the process(pain). I'll be making the holes next weekend probably for the new mrror.

With your passengers side mirror you should have gotten a template that shows the layout for your mirror. You will need to drill 2 holes in your passengers side door. There are 2 well nuts that go into the holes. Attach the base to the well nuts with the screws and then attach the mirror to the base.

I've done mine that way - I even underdrilled the holes so that the rubber pieces were VERY hard to push in - they are still a bit flimsy (especially when I shut the door) is there any way to stop this?

i didn't get any screws, just a mounting plate and rubber gasket. i can make a template for location, using drivers side, but i was hoping to put a metal plate inside for screws, but don't know what's may be inside. thanks for answering me.

I agree with Eddie 70. You should have gotten, or need to obtain, the template or at least the well nuts. If you have the plastic mounting piece that the well nuts fit into you can use it as a template for your drilling. No need to open up the door panel from the inside. Everything is done from the outside of the car.
Simply locate/replicate the placement of the drivers side mirror on the passenger door. (mirror the mounting location)
Place the plastic mounting gasket on the door and mark your holes. (this is available from most vette suppliers for about $3.)
Drill out hole marks on your door (the scary part).
Place the mounting gasket on the door and push the well nuts through the gasket and into the door. (well nuts are available at lowes/home depot and most vette suppliers)
Place your mounting bracket over the well nut screw holes and screw it down until very tight (the screws draw up the well nuts against the inside of the door and keeps the mirror from rocking).
Set the mirror down on top of the bracket and tighten up the chrome sex socket screw with a hex wrench.

Before you order them, go to the local ACE hardware and get the aluminum versions. They are just like a drywall anchor but thinner. They worked perfectly on my '69.

I even tried the rubber ones first but they were pretty wobbley.
The metal ones are solid.
