I am finally putting the seats in and wanted to know... do I cut the rug for the seat bracket to fit under or bolt right to the floor with the rug underneath? I have seen it both ways but I am thinking cut the rug so the bracket is actually touching the body...
In front the factory made a flap about 2"wide and 2 1/2 " deep hinged ( not cut) in the front to get at the bolt then folded it back down. The back was just a hole in the carpet. A pencil solder iron makes a nice hole in back but it smells. Works good to install the rubber plugs as you have a nice round hole to put the plug through.

Here's a shot of the stock carpet front and rear. I did what quite a few folks suggested and used carb studs to mount the seats. Now they lift out and back in without having to fish for the holes...
Fishing for the bolt holes are a pain... I will try the stud method. Thanks for the pics and advice... I can't wait until this body off rebuild is completely finished... It is going to be a blast to drive... everything is all new... WAHOOOO
