Default can anyone explain ? 1979

Can anyone explain how bad the problem in the picture below could be? I was thinking of buying this car but this looks bad. is this how the birdcage rusts out at the frame? I didnt see car personally but there is a gap there that looks abnormal thanks for your help....steve

The worst areas are above and well below that spot. Suggest pulling the kick panel to see what it looks like from inside and below.

That gap between the fender and the windshield is normal. Take a scribe and poke all around the light colored area at the bottom of the windshield. If the scribe goes through the metal, buy a different vette.

That area isn't really difficult to repair. You take it to your local vette bodyshop and write a very big check to him. Go back in a few weeks and pick up your car. For most people this job is way beyond what is safe to do at home.
