I went back and looked through the archives and didnt come across this question.
Is anyone using the Infinity Reference 4x6 plate #6402cfp in their Corvette? Looking for opinions on its quality. Not looking to do anything outrageous, just looking to have some music on trips. Other than the sound of the BB.
Get with Page62, if memory serves me correctly, he is using the Infinity reference series in his '79.
I'm using Infinity Kappa 6.5" round component speakers in the back. Excellent quality. I made custom mounts out of 1/4" aircraft plywood.
But I'm using 4x6 Pioneers in the front. This is partly because I think there's a fitment problem with some 4x6 plate-style speakers due to lack of depth in the dash. Just make sure your seller has a easy return policy!
i used a set of infinity speakers in the orig dash postion , had to mdoify the holes slightly to get them on the chev speaker posts , and built this box for the back , but I used a set of pioneer 5 way 6x9 in the box , no amp pioneer head unit , very happy with the setup

Yes. I have those installed in my 69 in the kick panels. I have them powered by an alpine amp with 65 amps RMS. Beautiful mids and Highs. Make sure you mount them to an aluminum plate, then I riveted it to body. No flex to vibrate resulting in noise. Factory kick panels covered with no problems. I LOVE mine. I have an Infinity BassLink in rear, self contained 200W powered subwoofer. Plenty of power, crystal clear with crisp highs and nice deep lows. Not so powerful as to be obnoxious but it could border on it if you cranked it. Just perfect for me. Gets respect from my peers. Any questions, PM me.

Very nice box did you make that yourself? You may want to ask how many members would want one, it the price is right I bet you could sell a ton. Oh back to the question yes inifity 4x6 in the dash love em & pioneer 6.5 in the rear. wish I went w/the 6x9's
I also used the 4X6 plate 3-ways in my kick panels on my 71. Fit fine. Disconnected the dash speakers. Got Got 6X9 5-ways for the back. Put them in boxes made from a kit you can get at Walmart cheap. Great sound up to 70mph with the top up or down.
Highly recommended, they make a quality, good sounding product. I don't remember the part number but I have the 4x6" component "plate" (round mid and high speakers on a 4x6 plate) in my dash. Very close fit to the speedometer but it did work. Getting into the dash was a pain. Anyhow, before I got my Alpine CD/MP3 playing DIN radio I used these speakers with a factory-like radio. The difference from factory kickpanel speakers was absolutely fantastic. I plan to have an all infinity speaker system when I add rear 6x9s and a 10" sub.
