as i removed my carpet in my 78 i noticed several places were glued together and looked to well done not to be correct. ( behind the seats for example ). question is if this is right way, what glue do i use on my new carpet? i already have the 3-m spray adhesive and know its good stuff. what do you recommend?
thanks again,
jack
I used the 3-m spray and it work pretty good. However, don't do like I did and glue down the whole carpet (big mistake ). Now I want to remove the seat belt retractors and I cant get to them with the carpert glued down. I'm afraid of ripping the carpet if I pull too hard.
Some guys don't use glue at all...but others like me, spray it in strategic areas like valleys, humps, edges, etc. Coupled with the seat tracks, sill plates, and kick panels, that's enough to hold it in place and give you ease of removal for future repairs.

Good advice!
I used glue on all of my Reflectix, UNDER the carpet. I left the carpet loose though, held down only by the surrounding trim. The only place I'm tempted to glue mine down is on the vertical panel behind the seats. My 500W Viper power amp is the only thing holding that in right now.
im not really talking about holding the carpet down. different sections of my original carpet were overlapped and held together with glue. for instance, the carpet coming from the floor to behind the seats, was glued on top of the piece coming off the storage tray/area. with a perfect seam at the corner. it was to good to not be factory. any clues?
super 90 spray adhesive...... spray the carpet back and the area to lay at...... let it tack up for 30 seconds and lay it down...... lay it right the first time
ok where do i get that? is it comparable to the 3-m i already have?
The 3-m needs to set for 5-mins before laying down the carpet. Which is nice if you are doing large areas. Use the Super 90 for small areas that you can work very quickly.
