I had one I liked in my '65 Mustang - but it was a JVC head unit that they modified. I'd stay away from the lower-level units, and go with the modified JVCs and Alpines (if they still do that).
I happen to have a circa 1998 Kenwood Shaft cassette Radio with a 10 disc Kenwood cd changer, all in great shape.
I am debating on whether to sell it or use it in my 82, I have a few amps and subwoofers and may get a newer din style deck to run all this with. Not sure yet though.
But since they are hard to find I haven't got an offer I can't refuse yet. So I'll hold on to it until then.

I put a CAS cassette deck in my 69 about five years ago and the auto reverse function did not work straight out of the box. Had I read the manual, I would have bench tested before I installed the POS. Unfortunately, I didn't and by the time I discovered the problem, I had already buttoned everything back up. I just did not have the energy to pull it all apart again and I decided I could live with it.
This year my kids gave me an ipod for father's day and I use a cassette adaptor in the vette. Frankly, this setup sounds much better than the FM adaptor I got with the ipod. So, in the end, I guess I am OK with it.
