A lot of people are using the silver bubble insulation (reflex) that is about 1/4 inch thick that you can buy from Lowes or Home Depot for about 27.00 a roll (that's what I have - not installed yet). There is debate on whether to glue it ALL down or just the pieces that must conform to the body. For adhesives, don't cheap out, use the 3M spray. From what I've read they say the reflex works well. Draw bck is that it is a little thick, not a factor on the floor.

To answer you question you don't need it. But for the 40 bucks the 2 rolls cost me at Pep Boys I don't regret it at all. I can have a quiet conversation with the person next to me at 80 mph while enjoying the a/c now. Couldn't do that before. I used the 3m glue for all the places the pad wouldn't sit still in. The floor pans just have it sitting in there.

Spend the money and use it. I glued mine down with 3M. Well worth the investment.

i put this stuff in when i did the keisler swapp 3 yrs, ago. just pulled it back up to change the whole interior and found it to be in excellent shape. i didnt use any glue except for under the car in the tunnel, because it forms to the floor. all i found was some of the silver rubs off or sticks to the stock padding and you can see the clear bubbles. it has worked great as a heat sheild for me which was its intended purpose
