what should the oil pressure be in a 69 350/300 engine?

I think the rule of thumb is 1 psi per 100 rpm is safe, but for your particular car, I'm not sure. If you're running the high pressure pump, it may be between 50 and 80 psi all the time.

What are you seeing now?

Normal guage reading should be 35 to 40psi.

yea its another myth that youve got to have all this pressure. to much pressure can be a bad thing

My '80 is 40 at idle and about 60 at cruise.

thanks for the answers guys. only had the car for a little over 3 months. still checking it out to see what needs to be done to it. the oil pressure is between 35-40 . just wanted to be sure the lower end was ok.

i was runnin 60* before i replaced my valve seals and run seafoam through the crankcase. i'm now at 40 and happy with that... dont know if it was the seafoam or theseals but i'm happy to see it back to normal
