i wonder where my '79 fits into the price code..... 60k miles, overall very good condition, '98 350/300hp crate motor with 5k miles....t-tops, red leather int....
I'm sure there are a number of members here that would take the car for a week, evaluate it, and give you their opinion of what it's worth for no charge.
it was obviously a typo in the article the same magazine in the May 05 issue value a 79 as crummy 5800, decent 8800, good 12100, fabulous 14000
I read the article once again.... it is several pages long not including the chart. In the article it mentions Bob Kroupa as the "ringer" or expert estimator. Bob is the editor and publisher of Vette-N-Vestment magazine and the annual Corvette pricing guide.
This is a blurb from the paragraph(s) talking about the 79.....
"This final Corvette of the 70's has been enjoying a small renaissance at auction lately, with perfect examples seeing the previously inconceivable high - $20k region."
Again.... just quoting the magazine.... but it sounds like thier was not a typo in the chart. By the way, I got this months issue of Corvette magazine and it has the C4 market values if anyone is interested. If you are, just give me a year, and I will tell you what it says...

i live in daytona,in the green house down by the water......see ya soon.....
The only out of reality price I see is the 75% add to for LS-6 engine option. I'll take every one that someone wants to sell at that price, for a No 1 or 2 rating.
The last 3 LS-6's I saw sold for $155K, $162K & $135K. Apparently an LS-6 coupe/automatic sold at the Leakes car auction at Dallas, TX last November for $65K, wished I'd known about it in time. Although the description said it was owned and restored by ProTeam, so don't know if it was REAL or not. It was lot # 1244, a Brands Hatch green/ tan interior car. Anyone know aware of this car?

With only 188 produced, they're almost as rare as a ;69 L-88.
I don't ever see that happening. I think what did happen was the chrome bumper C3s were climbing in price early (when the rubber bumpers were sitting idle)... and are starting to taper off a little, with thier early rise in value, it priced some people out of the chrome bumper market..... now those people are starting to buy up some of the rubber bumper C3s and causing a higher % increase in value this past year. I think as a whole.... the chrome bumper C3s will always fetch a higher price.... and soon the % increase in values for all C3s will even out. What I found most encouraging was the fact the C3s are on the move up in value as a whole...

And how many people in say... 1975 thought an LS6 would be 100,000 or even 150,000? Not saying a rubber bumber will ever command that much but who knows how much they will appreciate.
It is the performance and image that these early C3 models, ie: L-71, L-89, L-88, LS-6 & ZL-1 come with that makes the car have value and demand.
I don't see the later C3's ever attaining the status of '68 to '72's, the perceived performance and image is not there.
The LS-6's value is predicated on performance and limited avaliability, just like the L-88 & ZL-1. When you add up the required options on an L-88, like K66,F41, M22, J56, V01 the overall cost of this engine option is high!
The LS-6 engine option was $1220.70, dressed out like an L-88 it was $1747.00. It's had little fanfare, when compared to L-88 & ZL-1, but its time has come.
