Be VERY VERY careful ordering any engine on EBAY. If you dont have a local guy you can rely on for support you can get royally screwed. The extra $$ for a GM crate engine or local build is well worth it.

Their machine work is included in the $549 for the block - others (Larry's) offer the same block for $349 ... I really wonder where their profit is ...
I guess they're making some money on the parts, the guy (Kent) told me I would only safe $150 if I ordered the parts only and assemble it myself.

I'll likely not even go thru Ebay and just order from them directly - unless I hear some horror stories about this engine builder or find a local shop that does the job for about the same price.
Fortunately i have time, my engine is still running and my Vette is not a DD.... so far I am happy with the communication with this shop, I'm sure I've been a PIA with all my questions but they're taking the time to answer everything ...
The fact that they're selling via Ebay doesn't make them a bubba shop, even Summit sells there...
About warranty - well, I am going to assemble the rest of the engine (heads, timing gear, oil pan, intake) myself so I doubt that any engine builder is easy to work with if something breaks...

Bob, this seems to be a great deal

I have to admit, I am getting second thoughts about the short block from theenginestore.

I really want a bulletproof bottom end this time, I'm worried about my 2 bolt main and the 25+ year old rods and pistons. This time I really want a forged rotating assembly so I don't have to worry about anything.

I am thinking about buying the Eagle rotating assembly separately and get either a seasoned 4bolt block or a new GM block. It would still be around $1500 for the rotating assembly and $1100 or so for the prepped block... then another 200 for the cam/lifters and another $200 for gaskets and the timing chain set.... this way I would have a new block but would have to assemble myself...but i know it's done to my satisfaction.... (yeah right, first time engine builder)

If I get a short block with forged internals it's $2500 no matter where I buy (that's with a seasoned block)....

PAW has a unassembled kit (new block and rotating assembly) for $2200....

There's so many options out there, too many to choose from....maybe it's a good thing that I can take my time deciding which way to go...

you can drive your self nuts thinking about this.....so when i went through it after my last talk with the local engine builder i went to the ATM machine and came back and gave him an $800 deposit for my engine.....that was 1 1/2 yrs ago and i have no regrets....that yearone deal is a really good one and they are a well known company i would not hestitate to buy that one.

Year One's engine is a 350, I'd like a 383. They use cast internals, I want forged....

It is time for me to place the order before I think too much about the 427ci SB built from a GMPP block ....
