This is the shot looking into my battery compartment, and those two holes go straight through and you can see the ground from them, but obviously not at this angle.
are those meant to be there? or did someone drill for no reason?
I think it's for the battery, if you battery leaks
also back in the seventies, we still had batteries that you had to check & fill the water level. So if there was a spill of anykind, these holes allowed it to drain.
What year is this on? Is it your 82? The hole to the left is the drain, there should be, not a plug, but a tube type thing. The other hole is where the ground battery cable enters the compartment. Look at where the cables come in, that ain't right. One cable is piggybacked with the other. Both cables should enter the compartment individually. Also, 82s had sealed batterys, no drain tube like earlier C3s.
......And as i take it, its ok to seal these holes up?
Interesting question, since the battery is in the cabin, if there's a hydrogen gas build up, where does the gas go if it isn't vented???? Could be a potentially dangerous situation.......
I've never seen vent tubes on a battery before....are these peculiar to Vettes ?????
And are they available to buy today...other than Delco ???????
Just curious........
BTW, I don't think these holes have anything to do with air shocks, as the holes are too big for a Schrader valve (think bicycles)...and who would want to pump their air shocks in that tight space ??????
