I had one of those visions that I should have learned to ignore.
I wrote a funny story to go along with it called "The Great NCMS Blasphemy" concerning the other NCMS but it's a tad bit irreverent and would most likely get me banned again.
How about a national organization that judges modified Vettes. The only rule is that the car has to be verifiable that it once was an original Corvette. Like Golf, the goal is the lowest score possible. You start with 4,500 points, and for every item that is not original you get the appropriate subtraction. Non lacquer paint - subtraction, original drivetrain - subtraction, original interior - subtraction, etc. The car or the components can't be junk, they have to be new or restored, they just can't be original. Then there would be bonus points... an extra 100 point deduction for each additional cubic inch, additional forward gear, 3 stage paint process, or additional wheel size diameter. Think of the scores possible for a 632 C.I. fuel injected big block, or C2's with C5 drivetrain. I'm thinking the numbers could even go negative and you could have certifications like "modified gold" and "modified silver", as well as "Survivor modified" (you know, cars that were modified right after they left the showroom and then no one has removed the modifications, etc.)
I remember proposing this as a joke way back when.
