Default New owner question

The wife and I bought a 81 last month and the brakes were so bad I put it on jack stands when we got home with it. I got the brakes fixed thanks to all the information found here. Today I drove the car to work (sorry I dont mean to rub that in) The question I have, is when you accelerate fast the rear of the car seems to shift to the right like something is broke or loose. Or is the way they drive? Is it comon or what do I look for.

Thanks

It could be the trailing arm bushings, these are not very easy to replace. If you can, take some photos of the rear suspension and post here.... maybe we can see something else that needs to be fixed

Does the car feel real loose and when you let off the gas it settles back down? If so trailing arm bushings are probably the culprit.

That's just how it feels. Looks like more time in the garage.

Thanks

or the spring mount is broken where it attaches at the rear-end cover.

I got my 75 coupe in April. Had the same problem. When the trailing arms were removed...there were no bushings left. About half the rear alignment shims had fallen out as well.
After new bushings, shocks and an alignment she drives like dream.

Don't overrule strut rod bushings and/or loose rear bearings. I had that problem and pulled reasonably good trailing arm bushings out of my car.
