I don't know about other GM antennas fitting but I replaced mine with an aftermarket and it works fine. I also added a hidded toggle switch so i can keep the antenna from going up when I play a CD works great.
Go to the left rear corner of your car and look up above the muffler. Sometimes you can change it without removing the muffler and sometimes you can't. I changer the one on my 80 w/o taking the muffler off.
I just installed mine over my christmas vacation. I had the tank and rear bumper off so it wasn't much of an issue. I bought mine on ebay for $45, mounting gromet barely fit over the origional body hole. I'm happy with it...
I know that some of the parts are quite interchangeable. The drive cable that fails frequently fits a TON of other GM applications and is still available cheap from Delco parts dealers. If the motor still works but the antenna won't go up or down you probably need that repair kit. I have done a couple of them myself and it is pretty easy.
The power antenna assy itself is harder to come by and has been discontinued for many years. There is a repro out there but I would not trust it personally.
I purchased a used Delco out of a 94 Cadillac. I used the trim ring off a 1997 Mercury Sable. The Delco was a touch shorter then factory but longer then aftermarket.
I used a aftermarket one from carquest, no problems with installation, it actualy lined up with the original bracket, grommet fit well. I guessi got lucky on this one.
