No, seriously -- where does one find the stamp that indicates what type of transmission you have? I know it's a 4 spd, but I haven't found where the code is located so I can identify exactly what tranny it actually is.

Probably covered by the 30 years of sludge somewhere (and I just learned that wasn't a factory installed option)

Brian.

That link was from a previous conversation on the forum.
I imagine you have a Borg Warner tranny. Numbers on my muncie were on the passenger side, chances are, thats where yours is as well.

Good luck degreasing.

Look for a letter code such as "W" for Warner Gear"..which would be followed by date codes(numbers) generally, the stamp would be in one of three places, depending on date of manufacture...start looking on machined surfaces on side of tranny...chances are it is a Borg Warner Super T-10...

Howdy, not too distant Vette brethern!

I read that forum, and I didn't find anything specific to '77, which would have been helpful if I had stated that ...the post only talks about vette's up to 74, or I totally missed it.

Degreasing ...not too bad, just getting the car up high enough to get under it ...now that's a bit more of a challenge

Peace out
Brian.

Thanks, at least I can start cleaning/looking in a certain place to find out what it's got. That site was an interesting read about the ST-10, though ...thanks for passing that along.

And don't think I don't get a chuckle out of that every time I pass through that part of the state!
