Yeah, I hate guessing games where you don't get to guess a lot more than I hate duplicate threads.

3 people rent a room for 30 dollers....each pay 10 dollars
the manager says the room is 25 not 30...... so he keeps 2 and gives back 3 (1 to each person)
10-1=9 dollars per person
9x3 (people)=27 dollars....
27 + 2 (that the manager kept) = 29
where did the other dollar go if it started with 30 and now ended in 29?
i figure if i can do this, i can make some money one dollar at a time

3 + 2 dollars the manager kept = $5.
5 + 25 dollars for the cost of the room = $30.

it's supposed to be 27-2 that the manager kept because the initial 30 - 3$ refunded = 27 (same as 32x9) and the additional 2$ that the manager pocketed makes it the new price of 25$...
