Default Engine replacement advice

I have a 69 small block that has (according to the guy I bought it from) a 73 z-28 motor. The engine runs strong with no problems just looks bad and the rest of the car has been restored.

I am wondering wether its better to replace it with a same year (value wise) serialed motor or to go with a crate.....If a crate any opinions on size HP ect.

The original was a 350 300HP 4-speed. I'd like zip and torque but not going to the races!

Thanks in advance

What do you mean looks bad? If the motor is dirty, clean it and paint it.

Regarding a new crate motor, save yourself the time, effort, and $$$$. The value will not increase one iota...for one, your original motor is long gone, and that motor is the only one that will increase the value of your ride.

Default Yep!!! Time for the proper application of elbow grease...

If the present engine runs well, be nice to it, clean it up, put some fresh paint and some nice engine compartment jewelery on it.

Think of all the money you will be saving and then you can plot and scheme on some other project like headers and duals....

Or even an overdrive trans....

See.... Now you got me thinking, what am I going to do next on mine?

Unless you have the original motor with the serial number stamped into the block you could put a brand new motor in the car and it wouldn't be worth $1 more. If your motor runs fine just detail it and leave it in there.
