All things equal, I'd buy the '80 because without the computer it is a little less complex. With that said, look at cars from any of these years, then buy the nicest one you can afford.Not that big of a difference.

82 Pros
CPU controlled EFI
700R4 tranny gearing
Large HD U-joints
Best seats
23+ MPG higway cruising

82 Cons
CFI issues if any could be difficult to solve -some mechanical complexity of TBs
Aluminum rear = less strength than earlier iron models
700R4 is weak

IMHO Pros outweight the Cons -but im biased I guess.

Hi,
Just to clarify, most CE specific items are available aftermarket. The decal kits, interior components and wheel center caps are readily available (not cheap). The hardest parts to find are anything to do with the opening rear hatch. As far as I know, nothing is being reproduced for that. I think the horn button is also difficult to find.
