So I finally got around to tryin to figure out why my clock does not work on my '75 vette, turns out there was no wire connected to it
I have searched up in there several times and there are no loose wires at all. I was thinking that someone might have connected it to the aftermarket radio in it(Just guessing).
Anyone know what color the wire is?
Also, the needles are fading, what should I use to bring them back to orange? They are half orange half yellow. I was told in the past by a friend of mine not to use paint on the needles of any guages.
I'm not sure what color wire was the original but any constant source of power will do the trick. Also can't imagine how repainting the pointers would hurt.
The orange wire might just be it, just checked it and is does have a constant 12v. Thanks
With the pointers, I didn't think that the paint would have much effect on the clock, but from what my friend said, was that the weight of the paint was enough to make the other guages inaccurate. I'm just double checking so I dont mess anything up
Power to the clock is a single orange wire...BUT it needs to be 12v. that stays on all the time (not turned on with ignition switch). You can tap into the orange wire that goes to the cigarette lighter (not the bulb..to the lighter itself). Both wires come from the same place anyway.
You can get new gage needles at about any Corvette parts place. I buy most of my stuff on internet anymore. I know that Rik's Corvette (North Carolina) has them. Probably Corvette America, too.
