Default Another Find, 1975 ? Coupe (Pictures)

Now this isn't pretty but it does run, (took a bit to get it to fired up). It has sat in this spot for 2 years and here's what I seen and know.
(1) Motor runs L-82 automatic
(2) Power windows work (pass side a bit slow)
(3) Org. radio work's, wipers worked, gauges all seemed to work
(4) Headlights stuck open
(5) Needs rear clip (see pic)
(6) Missing chrome rockers (see pic)
(7) Brakes didn't fade but not sure of their real condition
(8) Frame seems ok, but would need to put up on a hoist to check
(9) Need carpets, door panels, the leather seats, dash in good shape
(10) 97000 miles showing on speedo
(11) Automatic trans shifted into drive (rear flat tire couldn't drive it)
(12) Glass all ok
(13) Needs drivers door hinges (a bit of sag when open, hinge not door post) also there was work done on the door skin at some point (see pic)
(14) T roof will need seals, as well as doors
(15) Tires / rims are junk
(16) exhaust pipes and mufflers need replacing

Now the kicker. the guy wants $750.00, and I told him I'd go $500.00 (he's not even sure if it's a 75 or 76.) He'll let me know Sunday ( Jan. 29/06). So what do you think, is it worth the money to try and fix or part out. I have 3 Vettes now, but for the money I'm considering it. Or should I just leave it where it is. My wife says, whats the difference 3 or 4

Here's some pictures, like I said it's not pretty. but real cheap
Should I buy it or not ???

I can't imagine how you could lose money on that car if you did the minimum repairs to re-sell. You could definately get "Upside Down" if you tried to do much restoration. I would rate it a Low 4 condition code - could probably improve to a 4+ or low 3- without spending a lot of money, and get 6 or 7K out of it. I would want to be sure about the drivetrain. Good Luck.

Let me get this straight, it starts and runs and the only really bad part on the body is the rear bumper cover and it needs some (a lot of ) TLC in the interior and you are asking if you should by it and got cheap with the guy on price,,,,,I'd buy it in a second if I were you, but check the frame first,,,,Peace,,, Moosie

I think either price would be fine. The steering wheel will bring $100 and the headlights $500. I other words you could part it for way more than you pay for it if it doesn't work out.

I believe I would go back and load that one up and bring it home, quick. Like Mark said, you can't go wrong with it, even parting it out.

If you get it and wanna part it out I could use several things

Oh yea, WTH are those levers next to the side of the HVAC switchs?

It's definitely a 75. Go for it. Its worth more than $350 in parts.

I'm west of Toronto but would be willing to pay 1/2 the price for 1/2 the parts...or all the price

$500.00 is a definite BUY. I paid $400 for my 79 and it was one step above a parts car. Not running, needs total rebuild. May as well take advantage of the seller's stupidity.

I say it's a '76. My '75 does not have the CORVETTE name just under the wiper controls nor the lever beside the heat/ac control wheel. Either way, you HAVE to get it for that price.

Looks like a 75 non A/C car to me, pretty sure the stingray badging dissapeared in 76. The rocker moldings will cost you more then the car. If the frame and all bird cage componenets are solid it would be the deal of a lifetime, if not it will be a money pit. You could easily make a few bucks with a few repairs though.

Looks like it has a new front bumper cover, or possibly re-painted? Maybe the drivers door has been replaced or re-skinned, doesn't seem to fit right.
