Default convert mechanical tach to electronic

Does anyone know if a tach can be converted from mechanical to electronic? I am looking at purchasing a 69 big block that has a distributor without the mechanical tach feature. Any information will be appreciated. Ron

Yep, easy conversion. The sweep is the same so you can take a 75-77 electric tach and move your stock faceplate over. I did it on my 71 years ago and it has worked perfectly.

Find yourself a late 80's V8 Camaro at a wrecking yard. The tach guts have abut the same sweep and rpm range. The terminals on the circuit board are even labeled. The guts fit inside the C3 housing easily, you just gotta do a little riveting and transplant the needle.

One of the forum members will convert your mech tach to an electrical one. He'll use you existing tach, the tach faceplate, needle, etc. but the "works" will be replaced with a GM tach board and drive used in the later C3's. He's wants $135.00.

His forum name is Mike Mercury. I have his personal E-Mail address that I can forward if you want.
