Default Electric Fan

undefined[[/FONT]undefined Installed a 16" Electric puller fan with a 185 hypertach fan switch installed in the intake, with a relay. Fan works, but temp gauge got dangerously close to the red. Never did that before with the mechanical fan. Also the engine started cutting out, I wonder if the engine was getting too hot. I checked the overflow bottle and it was still in the full cold side, even with the engine reading 220. Any suggestions appreciated. I like the electric fan, but may have to go back to the mechanical one.

I had a flex-a-lite dual fan that did the same thing. The only fan I have found to work is the dual spal 11" unit.

Default great info, I will be going

with the Dual Spals for sure now. Probably the Dewitt alum radiator too when I get the money $900 WOW, but you get what you pay for.

I have the same 16" spal puller with 185f switch. The temp never goes above 185f.

As far as the Spal brand goes, I picked up a bit of info somewhere about how Spal rates thier fans CFM at 12V whereas most other manufactures are rated at 14.5V.

Does the temp go down when you are moving (say at 50mph or so) for a few miles? If not, then it's not your fan. Maybe there are some air pockets in the system if you changed or did something with the coolant.

I'm running a similar sized fan and don't have problems.

Realized that the inline fuse I had installed may have hampered the fan output. I had a 25 amp fuse, went too a 5 & 10 amp and it blew. The 15 amp worked good I could tell the fan pulling more. I then clipped the inline fuse out and will try it. I also have a new radiator. I cann't afford the aluminum one. Thank You for all your replies and suggestions. I love this column.
