I've owned this car since 1990 it has 79,000 miles on it. Just pulled down my tank last night and to my surprise there were two tank stickers. This is a very high option car and they needed two sheets to get all them on it. Has anyone else ever run across this???
Page 1 was in great shape but page two came off in about 5 pieces.
The Glue used is tough to break down so as to save the sheet, Has anyone had success getting it off???

The first thing I would do is dust it carefully with an old soft paint brush and take some good digital photographs of it. Then regardless of your success in removing it or not you have a good record of it.
I removed mine in 1990 from my '73 (after recording all of the data) by spritzing it with a bottle of warm water. This loosened up the glue enough after sitting for a while that I was able to use a razor blade to get it off. It came out okay and in reasonably good shape after carefully drying it, but I was probably just lucky. Be patient and go slow...

Mine is about as high an option car as you could buy in '72. I also had two sheets:
Getting them off is a real pain. Mine was missing parts before I even started.

Yeah...drop us a note when you get a photo loaded...quite unique!
Did you see your build sheet after taking the thing (technical term when drunk) off the top of the gas tank before you dropped it? Where was it on the tank? I went looking for mine tonight and havent dropped the tank yet but I might just do it after reading your post.
I recently purchased a one owner Barn find 1972 Coupe. The fuel tank had been replaced fron the owner and he said the build sheet wasn't on the tank. Tonight I was dis assembling the dash and found it rolled up between the Speedometer and Tach. It was a bit wrinkled and had one tear in it, other than that it was in GOOD shape.
By the way, this car has 39,957 miles on it and it's totally original. The car runs but the vacuum system is a mess. The color is Ontario Orange with Saddle interior. It's going to take a little TLC to get it back to a street drivable car.

Nice find and congratulations. Those vacuum systems take some patience but can be worked throgh. Scan your build sheet and post if you can...would love to see it
Anyone out there that can give me hints on locations of any documents on a 71. The obvious one is the tank sticker which I am looking forward to look. I have heard many other locations like the one in this thread inside the dash. Where exactly is the one supposed to be in the front fascia or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Would love to see a pic of two of your C3 and the sheet! How did you find/run across your '72?
Since there is no front fascia on a 71, you won't find a sticker there. Occasionally above the radio, or behind the speedo/tach are the normal places other than the tank. And those two interior areas are very hit or miss. M
Hi fcb,
On my 71 there was a Corvette Order Copy tucked behind the radio. Between the tach and speedo seems much more common.
I remember finding it there while taking the radio out to be repair under warranty.
(The radio ended up being replaced by the dealer rather than being repaired.)
I'd think that fewer and fewer cars are left with the Copy behind the dash since now so many cars have had their dashes taken apart.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
If I remember correctly the owners manuals maintenance list requirement had the clock lubrication at one year intervals! Anyone following the recommended service would have had their dashes "maintained".
The build sheet, tank sticker (corvette order copy) has also been located under the carpet in some cars. Sometimes even when on the tank a duplicate can be found elsewhere in the car, but not often.

As a chassis judge, I have discovered them in the strut bracket, tucked up there...an amazing find!
When I bought my 72' LT1 the previous owner gave me page 1 of a multiple page tank sheet. 2 years later I was replacing the quartz clock with a working original mechanical clock and I figured I would start hunting in the dash. Well it was my lucky day, as I found another copy of page 1 and page 2 folded up very small and tucked between the tach and speedo.
That will probably never happen to me again, sweet day.
Found the build sheet for my 75 tucked in the dash when I replaced the tachometer board. I bought it 25 miles away and it turns out it originally sold about 2 miles from my house at a dealer that is still in business. Apparently there was a dealer in the area that sold most of the local corvettes so mine coming from a small dealer was pretty rare. Pretty cool story.

And a very nice GMAD style buildsheet. Shows VIN, job number all your RPOs and key codes. I have guessed that somewhere in 75-76 key codes were covered with DYMO tape but here we have one that was built December 1975 and no DYMO tape. Most interesting.
