Does your Corvette affect you the way mine affects me? I feel like I am under a spell, I get out on the highway and go faster than I ever have, it scares me half to death- and the car will go even faster but I haven't the nerve for it. I put on sunglasses and a leather jacket and my whole personality changes. You can't wipe the crazy grin off of my face, my girl friend gets nuts too! If I had known that my "personal" life would be affected in such a positive way I would have bought one years ago! Do you remember the movie CHRISTINE? I feel like that is me! This car has a hold on me AND I LOVE IT!

Yea you got the Vette Fever. Hopefully like most of us you'll soon settle down enough to not speed and get into trouble. You learn after driving it awhile certain spots to stomp on it and when to let up. As far as your personality, you gotta keep reminding yourself it's a car and if you didn't have it you'd still be whoever you truly are, in short, stay humble, if you are a true Corvette lover the excitement will never go away, so take it slow and Enjoy the ride for years to come.
That's why most fighter pilots and test pilots drive them. They have TNFS. (The Need For Speed) its a good thing. Most of us C3 owners have it sounds like you have it too.
Im sorry but i got attached to mine the first day i had her. So guys whats you girls(or guys) Name, I named my 78 Jasmine. I personally felt it fitted her looks and everything. This sounds a bit wierd but being 15 and working on it just makes me feel like Im reviving it after such a horrible treatment. Carpets and everything was black on a doeskin interior. It needs tlc and im giving it to her. But yes i feel so more attached it feels so good to work on something so beautiful as a corvette. Idk if its only me but it gives you a feeling like its your baby and yes i had to name her.
might want to look back a day or two, there was a whole thread about nameing your car.
there is something nice about not haveing a speedo/tach in your car, you never really know how fast your going.
i was out on a cruise with 4 other C5s and 1 C6. the C5's are infront of me on a straight away and just punch it, i figure what the hell, ill keep up as best as i can. the C6 is trailing aways behind us and takes a pic, hes doing 70, im probably doing 80, and the group ahead is pushing 100.
thats the fastest ive ever done in the car yet, and it was amazing. it didnt shake or rattle at all. it just became a completly diffrent car. i could feel the aerodynamics starting to take hold and start keeping the car down and on the road. cant wait to do it again.

My wife thinks this car has changed my driving also. She says I drive this corvette harder and faster than any of my other cars I have had. It is just easy to do sometimes. I just pick my spots and get on it a little every now and again. They can be lots of fun.

TNFS is universal throughout aviation. Fighters, Bombers, Tankers, Cargo, Delta, American - it doesnt matter. On nice days, the parking lot at work looks like a car show. A C6, 2xC5s, 2xC3s, an occasional Mid-year; 60s rustangs and a camaro or 2... The vettes are owned by Navs, not pilots! (I have to plug the WSO 'union'!)
Mine sits in the driveway for 1 or 2 weeks at a time. When I want a cruise my heart pounds as I slip in the key. I start it, warm it up and take off. Just like Cape Cannaveral. Go like hell for an hour and get back, shut it off. Stumble back to my recliner, heart still pumping.
mine tends to keep me up late at night, makes me late for work occasionally, and keeps excess cash from accumulating in my wallet. Hmmmmmm, seems like I've been down this road somewhere else
