Default Is this accident damage?

I'm re-doing the interior in my car. Removed the carpeting today and found this on the driver side, behind the seat, inside rear quarter panel. Is this normal or has this car been in an accident ? The car is a 76, thanks.

Well, upon futher inspection, there is about a 2 foot long crack looking at it from inside the driver side rear wheel well. Better question now is, is it fixable?

looks like accident damage but hard to visualize what area that is... It's fixable, if the rest of the surrounding structure is in about the right position you can force the cracked pieces back together w/ metal or wood strips and screws and then laminate it all up. I did the same, my rear storage compartment box was cracked and the crack ran all the way up to the wheel tub, I initially fixed it and later cut out the entire storage box because of other mods. It looked very similar to your damage there.

Thanks, I was scared to death that it wasn't fixable. This picture is from inside the driver side rear wheel well (tire on lower left, seam sealer across the top), the crack extends about another foot to the right of this picture. The surrounding structure seems to be in the right position. Is standard fiberglass with cloth sheets sufficient to fix this?

Thanks again!

So you feel better,a guy today told me of a C6 that developed a crack at the rear hatch area...mind blower as he has had it just a month or so...the crack was almost two feet extending down into rear storage area...

Yes that can be fixed with regular fiberglass and polyester resin found at the local auto parts store.

Could have had a severe blow out at one time. Look up in the fender and see if it looks like it is damaged also.

Talked to a guy at a GM dealership in the service department and he said there seems to be a problem with rear ends in the C6 aswell.
