Default Body is finally off

Ok, I finally got the body pulled yesterday.
I have been reading the forum here for a few weeks to get a few things straightened out that I wasnt sure of. Thank you very much for everyone being so generous and helpful with information. I had problems with the #4 body mount on D/S and #3 on P/S but with some persuasion they are all out.

Pics of my 79 vet so far

Next, I am at the stage now of blasting the frame. I was thinking about hanging some plastic and doing it myself, but havent ruled out paying a shop to do it. Anyone here done this and give me some hint as to how much of a pain in the @$$ it is?

I just had my frame blasted about 3 months ago. I highly recomend that you have someone do it for you. My cost was 300.00. Well worth it to do it plus all the mess and clean up.

It saved me a lot of time and I feel money too because I didn't have to invest in sand and tools to do it plus experience in picking media and knowledge of blasting. I sandblast all my own small parts and that works out great.

I blasted my own frame, used sifted Lowe's play sand through a Cambell Hausfield $25.00 sandblasting setup in the garage. I had to use an air chisel with a wide blade to expedite undercoating removal prior to blasting. I did a section at a time, swept the floor and repeated. Wasn't too messy (but cover anything you don't want sand on) or difficult and it worked great.

did mine with a knotted wire wheel brush on a 4 inch grinder. much cleaner than sand blasting. that sand gets everywhere

Default Did mine with the wire wheel also, but

Media blasting preps the metal better for painting. The best is acid dipping, but that is more expensive. Have Fun !

Awesome Thanks. I am going to look into the acid dipping but im afraid it might be more than I am wanting to spend. I will have to call around. Anyone recommend anyone for dipping or blasting in the KC area?
