There were 49,213 77s built and just about midway through the
production cycle GM saw fit to make a few changes, such as the
switch for the alarm system was moved from front fender to the door
lock and I think this is when the change was made to the T-Top
weatherstrip also.Really its not a big deal.

two easy ways to tell: one is to look at the A/C unit in the pass fender well......the early one is two parts where the later one is a one part unit and the middle of the unit is crimped together...also the radiator overflow tanks are different

Early. If it doesn't have the side flags, it's super-early (first 2500 or so).

I'm confused now, because I just did weather stripping, and I have a fender well alarm and flags and the car was considered 77L, not 77E.

With the weatherstripping on the T-Tops, there is a different number of holes to attach to, plus reinforcement (I think).

Post the last 6 digits of your VIN number and we can tell what month your Vette was made, which might help.

Brian.

They didn't change everything at the same time. There is some overlap in the early or late features.

Ah, so I see ...GM is no different than the rest of us:

Standards? Sure, we got lots of them!
