Does anybody know of a good source for a variety of aerosol spray paint cans? I want to do so touching up on some pieces but don't have a spraygun to do it with.
You have to make sure it is the same type of paint(base clear , enamel etc..) or it will run very bad. Go to your local paint matching shop and they should be able to match it pretty good and put it in the can . Although with metalic paint it is going to be very hard. My dad had a cip in his 66 and it took the whole fender to blend it in. And he was using a air brush.
corvette fever has an advertiser that sells custom matched aersol PPG paint in a can. they advertise in "most" issues...sorry i don't have one in front of me to read you the vendor.
You can buy a refillable spray can that you pump up with a air compressor. That way you can use paint from a can. I got one from Harbour Freight.
Eastwood also carries those; the major downside to the refillable paint cans is that most use regular compressed air, which tends to pull in moisture. Also, they tend to cause lots of condensation and freezing, sort of like the compressed air "dust" cans that you can find for computers.
I wouldn't necessarily use them for painting exterior parts, but if you're doing something like applying paint on the bottom of the car, or engine parts, they'd be great.
It's basically a glass container you put paint in and then screw on a can of compressed air. I believe Home Depot and/or Duron paint carries them
Use them all the time.Work great and they don't cost very much.Oh you can also get them at NAPA.

You can get a cheap touch up gun at your local home store for 15 bucks and a good (read:good not great) one for less than 30 bucks. But if you are just repainting small "OFF THE CAR" items you can use whatever you want just prep it right and you are on your way. I personally use all "acrylic laquer" and that green self etching primer from Duplicolor for little things like this. Why laquer? cause if any overspray from something else gets on it or cleaning solvents it wont eat it like it will enamel. In the middle of a resto now so this is a problem in my space.
Tower paint advertises in Hemmings, they do PPG in spray cans either by color number or will color match if you send a sample. 800 779 6520. I have not used them, just see their ads.
