Zoops sells a clear that you can spray...works pretty good, but i hear it only lasts for about a year or so, then you have to re-clear.

Somebody has to know what GM used on the aluminum wheels, you can probably still get it.
Every time I try and clear something it comes out real bad, I end up taking it off.
The stuff GM used on the wheels is great you can't even tell there is anything on them 25 years later except for where it has worn or chipped off

powder coat
you can powdercoat them clear. our local rim repair shop does it. powdercoats them after polishing. he can do other items as well.
