Need some help on want a 1968 fresh 427 engine with 71 454 heads would be worth? Block #3935439 date code D 15 8. Head # 3994026 date code F 18 71. Aluminum Intake #3933163. Would it be better to sell separate?

Seen a couple of 427 blocks go for around 5 grand on ebay, they have to be the correctly stamped blocks for these guys restoring old Vettes have no idea which ones they look for however.

I do know one guy bought 427ci block for his Vette,( paid again around 5 grand ) Someone looked the block numbers up and came up with mid sized passenger car block, not a Vette block, I emailed the guy that won the block with this info and he informed me that all he was worried about was the correct date stamp

Yep, big dollar to the right person. But then you have to find the right person.
I bought a complete, tired, L71 out of a 68, aircleaner to sump, water pump to bellhousing for $3500 back in 2000. After a clean up the short motor now resides in my Vette. I chased correct blocks before I bought the motor and they all wanted the same sort of money I ended up paying for the WHOLE motor (including Tripower!). Ebayed the stuff I did not need like 840 heads and the tripower as I already had that stuff waiting at home and less to ship to Oz.

Hi

Your block is late 68 version block.
This blocks start at about 2000 USD up.
Last week , a early 68 version did not sell for the starting price of 2500 USD.
I guess that the heads don't mean anything for a numbers matching clone rebuilder, so selling separately might be better.

Good luck. Günther

These 439 blocks are not in the same league (price wise) as the 962's 351's, 942's, 321's, or the 512's. I see the 439's go as low as $800.00 up to about $2,000.00 depending on bore, condition, date, and much the buyer wants/needs this item. G.
