72 had white letters. early models 68-? had green. make sure you get everything for the radio. I think the 72 had two seperate boxes my 72 had two boxes for the radio but no radio.
On my car one of the boxes had a large round mutiple pin plug. I seen one last year for 50.00 bucks at Knoxville but like a dumb a** I did not buy it.

Here is one on ebay with both boxes like my 72 had hidden under the dash. The large box has the large round plug that I mentioned before a lot of the radios I have seen as 72 had the flat plug but I do not know if this was changed during the 72 model year.

From what I've seen, 68-71 radios have green letters and 72-76 have white letters. The dif between a mono and a stereo unit is that the stereo units have a small indicator light in the upper right corner of the face that will light up when receiving in stereo. You should be able to see this feature even if unit is not connected. i.e. don't let someone tell you it's a "stereo" unit if you don't see the indicator. There are two pieces to the radios. One piece is the radio itself, and the other piece is a finned piece connected to the radio by wires. I've heard it called an "amp" and a "multiplexer". I don't know exactly what it's called. I've been told, if you have a radio and not the "amp" all you have is a metal box. There's always a radio or two on ebay. They range from $300 - $500. My $0.02. - BTW, I'm looking for a 71 stereo if you happen across one. ....peter
