Block Numbers
Hey, this is my first corvette, & I am trying to decode these 2 numbers I found on the front of my block. Aren't they supposed to tell you the year, hp, etc.... If anyone can help I could sure use it!

Had a quick check in the Corvette Black Book. The TYZ code on the end of the second number gives the HP and application. Unfortunately the TYZ code appears to not be a C3 Corvette code.The longer number should be the VIN derivative and should match the VIN tag inside the drivers side windscreen. I would say it is probably not the original motor. Someone may be able to decode the TYZ for you.
