I was driving home and hit a dead skunk and smeared it all over the road . The smell isn't that bad on the outside but the inside it terrible! I will see what a bottle of febreez will do with a GOOD airing out. I just thought you all might get a laugh from my misery.

I hate to say this, but i think youll have that smell for a while. I hit one once in my camaro, I ended up fumogating the car and all the duct work and vents with about 4 cans of lysol for like 3 days
Acidic compounds will help wash it away.
Just like when a dog gets sprayed (happened once to us).
Wash with tomato juice, vinegar, or some other acidic fluid.
This - of course - is regarding the outside where the skunk "hit" the car.
Charcoal can be used to absorb the odor, but usually takes a long time.
You might have to endure it (inside smell) until it dissipates naturally.
Good Luck
similar thing happened to one of my buddies, only it was in his wifes (now ex wifes) 'Vette, her "CHEVETTE" only the skunk got lodged under it and he didnt know it for a while, he promised her a new "vette" after he had wrecked her first two real Corvettes, both '72s and both that medium kinda green with tan interiors, one a coupe, one a convertible, both very nice cars, he was rough on equiptment,,but he did in fact buy her a new "vette" ,,Peace, Moosie
NHvette is correct; tomato juice will neutralize the odor. Put tomato juice in a sprayer (ie.plastic insect sprayer type--Lowes), then spray the undercarraige, frame or suspension at "point of skunk impact".
Also use this procedure on your dog if applicable.
As the owner of a wire haired fox terrier that is a terror on rats, rabbits, and skunks, we have tried it all. I take him with me when I go to feed cows and somtimes he gets lucky and catches something, we get unlucky and have to smell him. My wife gets upset when we get home, can't imagine why. She has found that Masingill feminine product works the best, this info came from the vet. This hunting season, my son and I had to endure a trip home with him smelling like a skunk. We rode home with shirts pulled over our face to try and not soak up so much smell. We looked liked bank robbers going home. He was hungry, stopped to get him something to eat and he said he had lost his appitite. Cleaning and time takes care of it. There are lots of dead skunks on the road this time of year, they're on the move, breeding season.
I went smelt fishing once with a bunch of buddy's, got drunk and filled 2 garbage bags full of smelt and put them in the trunk of my one year old 69 firebird, got home about 3am went to bed, got up late for work, rushed to work, parked and the smelt sat in the trunk in the 90 degree sun for 8 hours.. Man! what a smell when i opened the door after work (my hangover didn't help either).. boy was my wife pi$$ed
