Default Search Rant.

Why is it that there is a "What is the widest tire possible?" thread every few days? This one seems to show up the most. I know there are other repeats, but this one seems to get me the worst. Another thing that gets me is all the "What's the best ...?" Isn't that a subjective topic?

I understand that there are new people to the board every day, but come on. This is just getting ridiculus. If everyone would spend a few minutes trying to get their questions answered by doing some research first, then there wouldn't be so many duplicate threads. It makes it annoying for the rest of us that have seen the same topic 10 times in the last month. And quite frankly I am getting sick of posting the same answer over and over.

Thats it, I'm done. Just had to get that off my chest.

Default What is the best

That leads me to the question, what is the best way to have that rubber mounted to those rims?

Actually, I have to admit that I have trouble finding anything with the search feature. I also find that the repetitive posts provides me with ideas that I would never have thought to search for.

Widest tires does not bother me as much as "is it possible to put in a big-block where a small block was". There must be several threads a week on that one.

i agree, alot of redundant questions asked here. possibly the forum could change the format or topic categories from general or tech/perf to:

-body
-electrical
-engine
-exhaust
-fuel/emissions
-heating/cooling
-interior
-suspension
-transmission
-wheels/brakes
-general/misc bs

this way we don't have to look over the topics we are not interested in. most members use the search tab and are not aware or bother to use the "advanced" search feature. it's easier to start a new thread and get answers then to search, advance search then read all the threads just to find the answer. all in all... i hear you and feel your frustration 70 LS1.

Will performer rpm fit my vette? (EB site clearly answers this ... NO).

What's the best cam for my vette? (but poster does not tell us anything about his combo or use).

The search feature in advance mode actually works pretty well in picking up the key words in the threads. What people need to do is to provide a more descriptive Title other than, "I have a problem", "I have a question", "Newbie Here"...

Sheesh,
Enough already! If someone posts something you dont like simply dont open it or answer. Ease up, all of this bitching is going to do nothing but hurt this forum. Quit trying to censor everything that does not appeal to your taste. Let folks enjoy and discuss! ..............LT

Why is it I see a "I hate when people don't use the search button" thread every other week? Same idea applies to threads like these, someone should have used the "search" button and posted in one of the many other complaint threads instead of creating this new one.

Honestly I've used both the search function and the advance search function and they both suck at getting good threads out of keywords. I said it once I'll say it again if the repeat threads topics are so common then one good thread about that subject needs to be made into a sticky at the top of the area it's in. Then if someone is dumb enough to post a thread when it's right in thier face they deserve to get flamed.

I think if you see a thread you don't like skip over it, if it bothers the mods then they can delete it...no biggie. Lets all get along

But thats my 2 cents and doesn't really matter.

Just an observation, I did a lil search on tire stuff
search text responses
wide tire 47
widest tire 10
wide wheels 208
widest wheels 7

all were done useing advanced features within C3 forums, so the search dioes work, I use it all the time. Sometimes I still ask stupid questions. I ain't a newbie, but frequently there are topics poping up in here I want some detail on. The repetitive posts don't bother me muck, I ignore them mostly. Being curious I get impatient for new/more interesting stuff sometimes, but thats me and its very subjective
Post what ya want

I think searching is more of an art than a science. Some of us are just better artsists than others.
