Default Carb de-code

I have a carburetor for a '69 350/350, 4 speed. The number is 07029207. My question is whether the "0" at the beginning of the carburetor number designates this as a service replacement or not. It was on my '68 when I bought the car 20+ years ago. Thanks for any replies.

whats the date code? The "0" seems strange to me. That carb was made well into the 80's, maybe 90's, as the service replacement for alot of applications. The part number changed over the years but the 7029207 remained on the carb with date codes beyond 1969

what is the date code....the four numbers under the carb number?

zero indicates is was service replacement. So the date code will be after 1969.

of the four numbers: the first three numbers are the day of the year the carb was made and the last digit is for the year.

example 0173 = 17th day of 1973

Jim

OK. I realized that I actually have two of these carbs with the same carb number. One has a date code of 2009 (this is the one that was on the car when I bought it in 1983). Subsequently, around the 1984-1987 timeframe I bought a replacement and it has a date code of 0454.

So would the first one then be the 200th day of '69 or '79? I guess the second one is the 45th day of '84? Can anyone confirm this? So I guess this is definitely a service replacement carb? Thanks for any replies.

You don't say if the "0" appears on both of the carbs. I would think the 2009 could be a 69 version . (without the "0")Your decifering is acurate. There just isn't much way of know which decade.

I bought one of thee a few years back in the original box. It had a different part number on the box, but the carb was still stamped 7029207.
