what all is involved in replacing the map pocket mine is sagging pretty good. will i have to remove the entire dash? that might be a little much for me to tackle.
This is going to sound mean, but if you're afraid of the map pocket, maybe owning a vintage Corvette is not for you. They require quite a bit of tinkering, which can lead to big $ at the repair shop.
all thats holding it in is the screws in the top which go into dash pad(i believe 4 screws) and the ones coming in from the guages, then 2 when you open the passenger door, then it wil probably fall out
gotter done, took maybe 20 min. had to cut and rebend the springs. just didnt know what all was involved batman. thats why i ask the pros. thanks guys.

What a poor reply. Guy was asking a question and you dump on him.
You just made my ignore list.
Cab - glad you were able to repair it, ask any questions you want here.
Cab, glad you got it all worked out. My point was that some people aren't mechanically inclined (hopefully you're not one of them!), and these cars tend to need quite a bit of tinkering. The best advice I can give is to get the service and assembly manuals, and dive in on whatever needs to be done!
Milest, you completely misinterpreted me - I just was concerned that someone apparently new to working on these cars might not be aware of the work that's often involved in keeping them running and in good shape. I'm sorry you jump to conclusions so quickly.
batman for your info i am not a mech. man. i do rely on you guys. last month i was going to have a guy replace my rear carpet and doors. after he made no progress i went and got it and me and a 6 pack got it done with the forums help. the only thing i have left is window pillar rot i need replaced and i know i cant do that. been looking for someone in the general area but no luck yet. you guys are the best help any manual could have and i APPRECIATE your time.
thanks andy
yea sly i could get it to that point but you better have plenty of retirement or vacation time to come to the warm state and put it back together. can u imagine how many threads i would have on that one.
Ok, ok...I came across harsher than I should have, and I have admitted to that. I was concerned that someone might be on the road to getting in over their head - the constant tinkering involved with owning a 25+ year old car can be overwhelming to some people. Sorry for offending anyone.

I retire in two years... It's a date,I mean APPOINTMEMT...
I unfortunately did "jump to conclusions" a few days ago. I had just read too many smart remarks to guys trying to fix stuff and I was unfair to read your responce as that. After some reading, I have found your posts to be both informative and an asset to this site.
I hope you will accept my explanation, and not hold it against me.
Milest...no worries. I didn't intend for my original post to sound as harsh as it did. I try to make myself useful when I can, there is far too much that I still don't know about these cars.
