Flowmaster Delta Flow 50's were installed!
For once, I scored! This guy really knew what he was doing. No high school kid. He's been doing exhaust systems for 30 years. He made custom pipes for the inlets that allows the mufflers to be tucked up higher between the spare tire and fiberglass wall of the rear fender. The old mufflers hung down too much. He welded the inlet side and did a great job of mating the outlet to the chrome tail pipe.
I decided not to install a crossover pipe. I realize this would boost performance a little, but I perferred to leave the pipes in stock condition and I didn't want this guy, as talented as he is, to cut into the pipes and weld on a crossover.
And get this... he worked on my car for ~3 hours and he only charged me $100 for the entire installation!
I was expecting a bill twice that much.I was only able to drive around town a little bit yesterday. I haven't taken the car on the highway yet. The car sounds awesome at idle. The tone at idle is nice and low and throaty, but not poppy. It sounds nice taking off from a stoplight. There is a little resonance at ~1500-1700 RPM as the car accelerates through first gear, but it's not obnoxious. There is no resonance between 2000-3000 RPM. The interior cockpit noise is not a problem. I will still be able to hear the audio system.
I haven't been able to really jump on it and hear what the exhaust sounds like under high load, and I don't know how it's going to sound in the summer with the T-top off. But so far... I really like the change in sound. Thanks to everyone on this forum who gave me advice.
I'm trying to take a digital recording of the exhaust system and I'd like to post it on this forum. I'd like you guys to hear the exhaust. Is it as simple as pasting a wav file into a message? Does anybody know how to do this?
. that is the ones I am going to install on my 71. to post a video or wav file you first have to upload it to putfile http://www.putfile.com/ this is free. then you put a link to it in your message just like you do a picture. lets here it

You will like them when you really get on it. I drove mine home on the highway and it sounded great and the added power was real nice.
