It probably was wrecked in the past. As far as nobody purposefully puts a 69 nose on a later car, that is not true. I did. My 69 vert is actually a 71 with a 69 nose, 69 door panels, etc. Yes, I know that any purist will not ever want it, but I don't care. I bought it as a cowl back roller with no engine and transmission, no front end at all. Wiring harness consisted of about 10 red wires with crimp connectors. I built what I wanted and am very pleased with it. It has the 71 rear flares which help keep down flying rocks, it has the 71 doors so it has the convertible receivers that keep the body tighter. Anyway, I did it and back in the day I don't think it was completely uncommon to change front ends after an accident.

If you like the car, go look at it and take somebody who knows what they are doing with you. Car might be OK, it might not. Pictures may be worth 1000 words, but in person says it all.

if you like it buy it, personally I like the 69 front end beter than the 72 front end. I am going with a long hood on my 71 and removing the wiper door, to me it just looks cleaner, half the cars I see with wiper doors have the door partially up.
